September (Aki) Basho- offical thread (yay..)

Another disappointing rikishi was Nishikifuji, who went from 7-3 to 7-8 in his sekitori debut.

And Oki does the Hoshitango and keeps his score unblemished.

    Happy Birthday, Asashosakari

And this means that Asashoryu also turns 40 today. Happy Birthday, Pierre!

September (Aki) Basho- offical thread (yay..)

W10e fought valiantly against Mitakeumi, who looked tentative. In the end Mita saved his sekiwake rank - good!

Takanosho has certainly earned his place in sanyaku. It will be interesting to see if he can stabilize his sumo on this level.

September (Aki) Basho- offical thread (yay..)

I don't think that helps, as at least two 11-2 rikishi should face each other tomorrow.

And poster-boy Akiseyama at 35 does one of the best basho in his career.

    Happy Birthday, Kashunowaka!

    Thank you!

    Spirited rikishi Aki 2020

Great efforts by all the aforementioned rikishi. Check out Chiyonoo's bout vs Nishikifuji!

Indeed, and it's painful to watch!

Not sure I want to watch this...!

    Aki'20 Gaming Banter

You obviously haven't looked at Jejima's other bets this basho.

    Trivia bits

I think you are missing - Natsu 1968, 7 rikishi tie at 6-2, Tamanoshima (Tamanoumi) eventually gets the yusho with 13-2 (no kettei-sen)

    Aki'20 Gaming Banter

Nah, there is only one yusho so there is plenty of time for us others to beat you.

This is @Jejima's strategy. It seldom pays off of course, as you can see on the Odd Sumo banzuke. But when it does...!

September (Aki) Basho- offical thread (yay..)

The last time the leading result on day 8 was 6 wins was in July 2003.

As far as I can see, Takayasu is the only one left who could possibly beat Terunofuji.

East vs West (NEW GAME!!!) Aki 2020

Suggestion: you could list the score in each division as East vs. West, i.e. 27-22 means east won and 21-25 means west won.

    UDH Aki Basho 2020

Since UDH is the mirror game of Hoshitori, I hope that it works the same, i.e. Ishiura is back in and Enho is eligible to replace someone else.

    Return of the Chaingang Carnage

@Achiyama has been very clever with his picking and is way ahead of you on tie-breaker, so you'll just have to outlast him. Good luck to both of you!

Alright, it's actually the third time. http://sekitoto.sumogames.de/Score.aspx?B=86&D=1 http://sekitoto.sumogames.de/Score.aspx?B=89&D=13 But I ended up make-koshi both times so it doesn't really say anything about your proficiency in Sekitoto.

I don't think I have ever been tops on any day in Sekitoto. About bloody time! I have a feeling that this game used to be easier. Since your goal is to be better than half the other players and there are mostly veterans left, you really have to fight for your daily win! So I am not doing too well overall with 2-4.

Of course his best weapon was his thrusting. But his yotsu-zumo improved over the years, and in the end yorikiri was his most common winning kimarite as a yokozuna.

Was there ever a Yokozuna who couldn't fight on the belt?
