There was an NHK broadcast this morning about ex-sekiwake Tamanoumi Umekichi who was also after retirement a commentator for NHK during 27 years. What happened in Kokkai - Kimurayama fight?
Info-Sumo replied to Sashohitowa's topic in Honbasho Talk
Yes video watching ability may be the key. We will have to thank all those living in japan for making sumo clips available. Who are they by the way? MB? don't think so. Too concerned on HIS magazine! -
If you expect to get things with shekels, you take it the wrong way. If you are satisfied with a service you experienced for a long time (let's say 3 years - seems serious...) then you act and may be you get a bonus service. You won't buy anything, you will only show a kind of support for what you got in the past. May be bonus! (well all the time bonuses!!!) Except in september: I will be away from sumo video work ... To conclude: As I am not doing this for money I may refuse any new membership that would be based on "buying services". I prefer 1

What happened in Kokkai - Kimurayama fight?
Info-Sumo replied to Sashohitowa's topic in Honbasho Talk
If you just look at the slow motion video you'll see the head of Kokkai's opponent is suddenly pulled to another direction. It's clearly a fault. Do you really believe that any rikishi would say "yes I did that intentionaly"? -
The same character as for "waza": 技 "gi" is On-Yomi and "waza" is Kun-Yomi of the same kanji. You will also find this kanji in "gin

I am really sad about that. Even though I don't speak spanish and couln't read your magazine, I do understand how time consuming this kind of work is. I did the same kind of work for a magazine about japanese culture in the past and had to stop for the same reasons. May I suggest one thing? may be instead of 6 issues every year you could try to make only one or two.. just to stay alive. Then in the future may be you will find more volunteers to help you. Only a suggestion. Anyway thank you for your work dedicated to the whole community of spanish speaking sumo fans. I understand how difficult the decision to stop everything may be for you.

Three years ago there was a special woodblock prints exhibition at the Kokugikan Sumo Museum. I took photos of all of them: 34 "oban" sizes and 3 triptychs You will find them there: Estampes japonaises et sumo Click on thumbs to enlarge photos. -
Is it really the same service when on one side you get a full direct coverage, full screen on you TV set, on on the other side you just get delayed low quality videos on your computer screen (youtube like or from any other website)? Did you really check? If they have one dozen they are great.. Sumo related DVDs are not so many! TV broadcast started in the early 50s so you hardly find 30's or 40's bouts DVDs... I think I can see both, planning and results at the moment and I am quite astonished. Coming from nothing to the best one could expect... But as this special service will be available for abroad customers only (not living in Japan people) I think it is a bit expensive service for a(n) (only) sumo fan at the moment. For someone who wants to see all japanese tv it's great. My only question on this topic: when only a few persons can watch sumo bouts (no more youtube, no more banzuke.com, no more info-sumo.net), they become the very few who know...What all the others will have to rely on? a special magazine...? I had the same feeling as others in this thread before. I hope Iam wrong but am ready for another game (very different) eventually.

I tried to order old issues a few years ago. I paid with my Amex card and there was never any answer or delivery. I phoned from Japan (as I was most of the time in Tokyo), sent fax.. with no answer. I had to cancell from Amex giving all kinds of details (proofs that I tried to get the issues and copies of my mails). Money was refund. No excuse was ever given... Sumo World has been a good source of information in the past, but I'm afraid it's no longer true (to me). Forget about ordering old issues! If you can get scanned ones, it could be a solution if you really want to get them. There are other sources now.
