2 pointsAm I the only one who finds the prospect of Ōnosato being kicked out darkly funny?

1 pointI agree with you on Tokihayate. Please accept my commiserations.

1 pointOnosato today at the kokugikan talked to the media and apologized for causing that much trouble, "I want to properly reflect on it and gambarize". He will continue to be at the jungyo, 4 locations are left - on his way to Kisarazu, Chiba now for tomorrow. o o o - with Takerufuji kyujo, Onosato is the main attraction at the jungyo, again and again in the talk event for the fans - most important is Kisenosato's home basho on Friday in the capital Mito of Ibaraki-pref., for which the oyakata is PR ambassador. stern warning is what he got from the compliance bunch and that's it - should a new scandal emerge, he'll likely will have to follow the path of Hokuseiho

1 pointI don't visit very often the "Off-topic" place, so I didn't see Jejima's announcement about Bench Euro 2024. I'd be signing as a player, and my Grandson Krisachiyama will be glad to play too. As for Refioji - I'll be traveling the week of July 4. But for the Groups rounds I think I'll be able to do Refiojing, and if later - in July, for any reason I wouldn't be able to do the Refiojing, Jakusotsu (if he is OK, of course) to back me up for the week, or if he wants to finish the refiojing, is an option. Do you think it would be doable? Achiyama

1 pointIt did get out because Nishonoseki himself reported it - this must be happening everywhere all the time and nobody cared: Nishonoseki has completely absorbed and internalized the compliance histeria that governs Japan and the NSK and denunciated himself and his deshi. Same mechanisms as the brainwashing in Communist dictatorships and in continuation of the world-wide Corona histeria. The shock is rather that while rikishi heavily depend on massive amounts of alcohol to gain weight, this is not allowed even for those who nearly everwhere else and now also in Japan are not really minors anymore.

1 pointHi all, Here is the new banzuke, as put together by Flohru, Sakura and jejima, watched on by Kintamayama, Ekigozan, Asashosakari and Kaiomitsuki. This was one of the occasions when our initial drafts were rather similar, and the first time that I can recall (in almost 25 years of doing it), that all of the banzuke makers agreed on the suggested tweaks to the first draft of the compromise banzuke. As ever, there are bits of bad luck floating around, and some good luck Enjoy! 1 pointThat would've been joint 3rd place in the Interhigh and 4th place in the Kokutai in high school - incidentally, he suffered a major injury in his Kokutai semifinal vs Oho, and thus had to forfeit the bout to determine 3rd place (which was taken by Hoshoryu on fusen). To my recollection, he never made the top 16 of a major tournament in college, though he did finish runner-up in a weight class event and in either the Kanazawa or Towada national tournament, beating Onosato in the semis but losing the final to Oshoma - that's where the photo of him with Oshoma, Onosato, and Suguro comes from. I know of 4 meetings between Onosato and Takerfuji in the amateurs, with Onosato winning 3. There may have been others I'm not aware of. He did hurt himself again in college, although it came late in the year (only 1 event was left) and he was back to competing at the start of the next college season in April/May.
