Ama: (Winning with a blitzkrieg attack) When I do sumo like that, there isn't much applause. I guess there aren't any climactic moments.

Dejima: (Falling to his second defeat after getting into opponent's favored yotsu position) Once I stop moving, I don't have much going for me.

Kotooshu: (Three straight over Robocop) I'm not afraid of him. I can see with my own eyes [his level of ability]. (Pounding his chest) This is all he has.

Takamisakari: (Raisng white flag) His arms are so long. Once he grabs the mawashi, he can keep me at a distance. There was no way for me to attack.

Hakuho: (Continuing his Alibi Ike act despite a victory) I've had a fever since the day before yesterday. My nose is stuffed and I couldn't sleep [well]. I had a hard time getting up in the morning.

Kyokushuzan: (Wise-cracking about his fusensho) I wasn't able to grab his mawashi today. [Hayateumi] belongs to the same ichimon so I hope he recovers quickly.

Futeno: (A fifth win for the computer geek) Good material for my blog? Guess so. You can look forward to reading it.

Tochiazuma: (Winning a tough one over Tochinonada) I'm getting caught in my opponent's flow. I need to move my body more naturally. Am I tired? I'm not involved in any kind of sumo that would make me tired. It's over quickly whether I win or lose.

Tamanoshima: (Helpless against The Yokozuna) He doesn't miss even the slightest opening. It almost makes one sick.

Asashoryu: (Talking about sick) [It's been so cold] that even when I concentrate, I still end up coughing. (Ryu has been getting injections of garlic extract to stay healthy and robust.)

Tamakasuga: (Despite the end of his winning streak) The sumo content wasn't bad. Now, I am more relaxed. I'm ready to move ahead.

More Tama: (As he flew out of the ring, Buyuzan fell on his butt) I thought there would be mono-ii. Too bad. [Bad luck].

Even more Tama: (From yesterday, perhaps presciently) I was lucky today. I want to keep [romancing] Lady Luck, but I don't have much experience [with her]. I don't even know how. [Luck, be my lady tonight].

Recycled Tama: (For another turn) There is a time to win, and a time to lose.

LUCK, BE A LADY TONIGHT
Inspired by Tamakasuga
With apology to Frank Sinatra

They call you Lady Luck.
But there is room for doubt
At times you have a very unladylike way of running out
You're in this basho with me
The pickings have been lush
And yet before nakabi is over you might give me the brush
You might forget your manners
You might refuse to stay and So the best that I can do is pray.

Luck be a lady tonight
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck if you've ever been a lady to begin with
Luck be a lady tonight.

Luck let a sumotori see
How nice a dame you can be
I've seen the way you've treated other rikishi you've been with
Luck be a lady with me.

A lady doesn't leave her wrestler
It isn't fair, it isn't nice
A lady doesn't wander all over the dohyo
And blow on some other guy's salt.
So let's keep the basho a delight
Never get out of my sight
Stick with me baby, I'm the fellow you started with
Luck be a lady
Luck be a lady
Luck be a lady tonight.

Luck be a lady tonight.
Luck be a lady tonight.
Luck, if you've ever been a lady to begin with
Luck be a lady tonight.

Luck let a sekitori see

Luck let a sekitori see

How nice a dame you can be

How nice a dame you can be

I know the way you've treated other rikishi you've been with

Luck me a lady, a lady, be a lady with me.

Luck be a lady with me

A Lady wouldn't flirt with strangers
She'd have a heart, she'd have a kokoro
A lady wouldn't pull a henka on me
When I've got my life on this basho.

Push 'em, slap 'em, thrust 'em, gumbai to me
Pull 'em, yank 'em, trip 'em!

So let's keep the basho a delight

Let's keep the basho a delight

Never get out of my sight

Not quite the diplomatic turn of phrase rikishi usually employ during these interviews.

Asashoryu has been getting injections of garlic extract to stay healthy and robust.

"I drank a whole lot of water before I went to bed and still couldn't get rid of the smell..", he said. He was relaxing by playing a horse racing computer game. "My horse is called Asashouryuu, but I got beaten twice by my tsukebito..", he joked.

this guy is hilarious ...

he makes fun all the time.He even smiles in the dohyo after a silly defeat (and he has so many of those) ... (Shaking head...)

My "Virtual Heya" (Nagoya 2014): Kyokushuho 6-9, Tosayutaka 11-4, Shohozan 4-11, Tokushoryu 4-11, Toyonoshima 10-5, Ishiura 5-2

Virtual Oyakata: Musashigawa Mitsuhide (Yokozuna Musashimaru)

Adopted rikishi: Sd95e Hokutoki 3-4  .... Sd88w Kaiho 4-3

Proud passenger of the "future Yokozuna Kyokushuho" bandwagon.

Futeno: (A fifth win for the computer geek)  Good material for my blog? Guess so. You can look forward to reading it.

Anybody willing to give us a quick translated extract from Futeno's blog? (Please ;-) )
