I have secured a deal with a major tour company that link inbound tourists on a more than reasonable budget with locally based individuals knowledgeable in a given area and have myself received 3 requests for sumo tours in the next 6 weeks.
I cannot do all of them and so if anyone else is out there......let me know.
This will involve one of two base outlines:
1. Meeting client at pre-agreed location around 0630. Describing what to expect and how to behave at asageiko even though the heya will know you are coming, and then, if the heya is in Ryogoku, giving a small area tour of interesting sumo related sites / perhaps the museum if open.
2. Meeting the client at a pre-agreed location (front of Kokugikan) at pre-agreed time - usually 1300 - 1500 - and sitting with them through the action, explaining in clear form what is happening and what they are seeing. A tour of the stadium, museum and various souvenir options. Saying goodbye just after 1800.
Seating arrangements will be agreed around 3 weeks to a month before the visit.
Pay rates can vary so mail me if interested.

If you are in the area or a regular visitor to asageiko with some good heya connection and interested, let me know.
Would prefer people with experience of their own in the dohyo with a solid awareness of what to tell people to look out for in asageiko -before entering the stable so that silence is maintained.

London based TV people have been in touch and while all options are still open, this may be one of the easiest logistically. Flights / hotels / interpreter taken care of.

They will be looking for an interview (undetermined length as of yet) and permission to use your comments / observations / experiences in a well known journal.
Thus far three names on the list but any lurkers out there on the list interested please make contact.
Visit should take place in late October or early November - in Tokyo (possible trip to Fukuoka if any lurkers there)
