Asojima Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 As usual, the number of pics available for day 1 is a bit limited. Haku - Ami Asa - Baruto Osh - Kise Kaio - Shotenro T'asuka - Nada
Fujisan Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I haven't seen the video yet but I cant wait to see how this happend....
Asojima Posted September 13, 2009 Author Posted September 13, 2009 Baruto is not known for his graceful exits from the dohyo. In this case, the aisle was blocked by what looks like a photographer, and a collision occured.
Washuyama Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Put Asa down for a 'strike' in first frame of the Photographer Bowling Tournament!
Asashosakari Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 (edited) No good for a fresh thread, so I'll just stick it in here. (That's what she said, etc. etc.) Game-used broken baseball bat turned gumbai, courtesy of Lotte Marines infielder Toshiaki Imae, juryo-kaku referee Kimura Kenjiro and wood product company Hyozaemon: Edited September 13, 2009 by Asashosakari
01010101 Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Put Asa down for a 'strike' in first frame of the Photographer Bowling Tournament! :-) good one.
Fujisan Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) The angle of the picture looks like Baruto finished up in the 3rd row... I like the little hand popping up between his legs, calling out for rescue.... Edited September 14, 2009 by Fujisan
kawika Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 i was there and had good angle, asa simply dump baruto into the asile and he just went sailing into the asile, it was nice tumble. didn't baruto say that he could only beat asa by picking him up, i guess maybe asa read that article and decided to give him a lesson.
Treblemaker Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 If you ever needed a "defining statement" on Opening Day, that was it. Lifting Baruto twice and then tossing him into the 6th row aisle (roughly the equivalent of the 9th or 10th row straight on to the dohyo)... well, it doesn't get much more emphatic than that. Actually, it was funny. Usually after being thown off the dohyo, the throwee usually climbs back in before the thrower resumes his position for the bow. This time, it seemed like Asa had time to sit and read Tolstoy's War and Peace before Baruto finally made his return. You don't see that very often. The Baruto Crane doesn't get lifted that often. Twice in about 5 seconds... When was the last time that happened to Baruto?
Treblemaker Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Asa: "Now, what was I doing before I swatted that fly?" Baruto: "Hey, mister... gimme a hand here...." Photographer: "...ow... ...help... ...ow... ..medic..." Gyoji: "Gimme the envelopes before he throws someone else out..." Yobidashi: "Ya don't have to tell me twice..."
Kintamayama Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Baruto: "Hey you! Didn't I ask you to wake me up at 5 :30? Now I missed my match!"
Hakuyobaku Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) May be just me, but Hakuho looks very similar to Tochiazuma on this picture, nem? Edited September 14, 2009 by Hakuyobaku
