Ah! So THAT's who it is... I heard on the radio this morning that amongst the circus freakshow running for California Governor also was a "sumo wrestler", but they didn't elaborate. It was obvious that it would be an amateur, but I was wondering who it was... never heard of him before, though - has he won anything? thirdprize.gif

Cheers

I have to tell you I'm loving this California governor race -- it's so entertaining! applause.gif And what perfect time, in the lull between bashos...

Considering the huge number of candidates (200+, I believe?), maybe they should structure the vote ballot as a pseudo-banzuke... biggrin.gif After all, they'd have a better shot of getting all the way down to Sandanme than most sumo games do. tongue.gif

Or alternatively, just get it over with and have an eight-round, 256-person tournament (just grab some guys off the streets to fill out the roster if needed biggrin.gif ) to decide the gubernatorial race. Sure would be even more entertaining than a simple one-ballot vote. And kinda appropriate, too, considering all the folks from the entertainment sector who are running. wink.gif

Kurt couldn't be worse than Tony Halme, a former WWF "wrestler" Ludwig Borga who also once thought he were a boxer (and musician and author and...). Tragedy started to gain momentum last March when over 16 000 idiots voted him to the Finnish Parliament.

Since early July this sad, racist excuse for a human being has been mostly comatose but has unfortunately gained his counsciousness again. He will most likely be charged for drunk driving, illegal gun possession and whatnot. His wife (idiot by definition as well) who had to flee from him with apparently a shot fired at her on that fateful July morning now claims the crisis has all but deepened their love.

How come women can be so utterly stupid sometimes? (Most men are stupid by the virtue of their Y chromosome but why women...?)

Sad thing is I still think Ahnuld would beat him, even if the competition was sumo for governor rather than an election. I guess he's there, but he didn't do particularly well in the one tournament I could find that he was in....

I believe this is him losing his balance a bit....

Still, getting the amount of free publicity he's been getting (i.e. showing up on German CNN), he's at least showing some fighting spirit!

Unless enough people don't understand a vote ballot.

I am always amazed at how many people don`t vote in America.
It seems a major contradiction.
It always seems as if the people who should be saying the most are saying the least. Its a common problem I suppose?
I am well off topic though and I hope I am not out of line here and causing ill feeling in any way.(Just give me a gentle prod if I am).
All the best. beer.gif

Seems like Mr. Rightmyer got 733 votes whereas Conan The Barbarian got slightly more (3,743,393) and became elected...

According to what I've read, at least 60-70% of the registered voters in California actually turned out and voted in this race. This is an astonishingly high number of voters (usually the numbers are well below 50%). I don't know if this was because of "Ahnold" or what, but it's still surprising.

I think part of the problem with voters is that most politicians in this country are viewed by the regular guy off the street as crooks. This makes it hard to vote when you find all the candidates really distasteful. offtopic.gif

I'd heard the same last night, but apparently not so...the Secretary of State's vote tally reports it as 54.3%. Still higher than usual, I guess.

I think a lot of people don't vote because they take that right for granted. Others don't believe their vote will make a difference, after all it is one of millions... Of course I disagree with both.
