Vikanohara Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Left uncle injury. I wonder what his right uncle is going to say about this. (Showing respect...)
ryafuji Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 What bad luck - right after a juryo yusho gets him back to into makuuchi, now he's back to square one. Unless of course the injury can heal in time for to enter the tournament later - five wins or so should keep him up I would think.

Kotoviki Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 West Jonidan 38 IKATAUMI Since he announced his retirement in Nagoya I guess I'm not surprised he's absent!! His 17 year old girlfriend was so devastated that he quit sumo that she decided to go back to the previous boyfriend Miyakofuji...
Fukurou Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) West Jonidan 38 IKATAUMISince he announced his retirement in Nagoya I guess I'm not surprised he's absent!! Thanks for that. I'm sure he'll show up on the next retirement list they put up on the website. I've always thought it strange how this situation is handled on the website - someone retires "outside the window" and they're still listed on the banzuke, but it's usually (my observation, and maybe I'm not paying enough attention) not acknowledged anywhere that they're not taking part in the basho. The first you see of it is the intai list, usually *after* the basho. So I am surprised that Ikataumi is listed as kyujo - how can you be kyujo-ed if you've already intai-ed? His 17 year old girlfriend was so devastated that he quit sumo that she decided to go back to the previous boyfriend Miyakofuji... Some girls want to marry doctors, others lawyers, and still others rikishi I guess Edited September 11, 2010 by Fukurou
Asashosakari Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) I've always thought it strange how this situation is handled on the website - someone retires "outside the window" and they're still listed on the banzuke, but it's usually (my observation, and maybe I'm not paying enough attention) not acknowledged anywhere that they're not taking part in the basho. The first you see of it is the intai list, usually *after* the basho. Hmm, I can't think of any case like that. Guys who officially retire in between tournaments (really just former sekitori) do show up on the intai list, guys who retire only unofficially show up on the kyujo list(s) until they eventually do get retired officially on a post-basho Wednesday. The only exceptions I can think of are rikishi who have been dismissed, like Furuichi this time; he's not on either list (and won't be), but has been purged from the online banzuke and hoshitori instead. Any rikishi can say he's retired; it doesn't make any difference to the Kyokai until his shisho confirms it. Edited September 11, 2010 by Asashosakari
Kintamayama Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Yamamotoyama didn't show up for his bout about an hour ago and nobody even mentions it?
Kintamayama Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Two gyoji kyujos, both sanyaku-kaku- Kimura Masanao and Kimura Tamamitsu.
Kintamayama Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) Yamamotoyama didn't show up for his bout about an hour ago and nobody even mentions it? Left knee ligament injury and "will have to rest and miss Aki basho," said the medical certificate. "I intend to allow him to enter the basho later," said the shisho.. Harry Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I sent him an email (if he still has his keitai...) but anyone know what's up with Ohifuji?Edit: email failed (Applauding...) Harry Still had the keitai last time I saw him... I'll ask Tomisakae during the basho! The Softbank address I have is not working for me anymore so perhaps he changed it. He wasn't as interested in emailing me after he found out I wasn't a teenage girl fan (In jonokuchi...)
Fukurou Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) Yamamotoyama didn't show up for his bout about an hour ago and nobody even mentions it? Just in case anyone's wondering, he withdrew as of day 1, just did it too late to not have a scheduled day 1 match. Anyone know if this is a new injury, or an old one come back in the last day or two? Or perhaps they were holding out to the last minute to see if he could make a go? (his shisho sure seems to want him out there) Edited September 12, 2010 by Fukurou
