Ozeki KaioU (37) met the Seibu Lion's pitcher Kimiyasu KudoU (46) who is still active, on a radio show (to be broadcast January 2nd at 14:00, on the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nippon_Cultural_Broadcasting) yesterday. Kudou said that after reaching 40, he really started enjoying playing baseball. "I plan on continuing for three more years!!", countered KaioU. When asked how he keeps in shape during the off-season, Kudou said he does two things- light exercise for preserving his muscles, and fasting, for his internal organs. Although it is highly unlikely KaioU will be fasting anytime soon, he said he will keep those tips in mind.
Edit- this is the station's http://www.joqr.co.jp/bbqr/index.php, but who knows..
U and U playing paper sumo backstage:
You never know: light 3-day fasting might be exactly what Kaio needs to hang on for three more years
3 more years...wow...
Good luck!
I guess 3 years ago a "3 more years"-statement was as surprising as this one.
Really I hope it won't be this. In this hon-basho Kaio has done six Kachi-Koshi with 8-7 score. And often the KK's point is arrived at the senshuraku for gentle gift...
I think is not a good idea for Kaio's dignity.
I assume he was joking. I doubt he seriously believes he will still be an ozeki at 40.
